The IRTA has a rich and distinct heritage. Illinois retired educators have joined the IRTA because its mission is solely dedicated to safeguarding and improving pension benefits for its members. As you can imagine, your interests as a retired educator are our interests. The IRTA grows in membership and strength every year, and we work to continue that successful tradition. IRTA has units which support the state organizations initiatives and efforts on a local level. IRTA's local units provide a social environment through regular meetings where retirees can come together and enjoy productive times with their colleagues. For more information on your local unit, please click on the county where you live (below) or contact the IRTA office by phone at (800) 728-4782.
